CHICAGO — Much of the emphasis on Monday night's rally in Chicago has been on the fourth quarter, but for quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who accounted for all three of the Vikings' touchdowns, the much-needed spark occurred just before halftime.
McCarthy, the No. 10 overall pick in 2024, unleashed a pass to receiver Jalen Nailor for 28 yards to set up kicker Will Reichard with an improbable opportunity for points in the closing seconds.
The connection moved the Vikings to Chicago's 41-yard line, where Reichard proceeded to match a Soldier Field record with a 59-yard field goal to cut Chicago's lead to 4 points.
