CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) -- The Illinois Pork Producers Association is launching a new apprenticeship program at five Illinois community colleges that will prepare students for a career in swine care.
The program was recently registered with the U.S. Department of Labor with the help of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Participating apprentices will be prepared for a career as a Swine Animal Care Technician, and they will receive competitive compensation that increases with their skills.
They will also receive a debt-free education and livestock certificate from one of the five participating community colleges: • Illinois Central College in East Peoria • John Wood Community College in Quincy • Kaskaskia College in Centralia • Lake Land Community Colleg
