PIERRE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A Pierre woman was sentenced after pleading guilty to a felony count after falsifying her own medical marijuana card.

Alexandra Feiner, 24, and a former employee of the South Dakota Department of Health, was placed on probation for two years.

Feiner was sentenced to two years in prison, but received a suspended imposition for pleading guilty to one felony count.

Feiner’s crimes occurred in March 2024. She avoided both the medical provider certification and the fee.

“There are 14,000 state government employees in South Dakota and the overwhelming majority work hard for South Dakota,” said Attorney General Jackley. “The behavior of one should not reflect poorly on the majority.”
