CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) - The Sept. 9 primary election is here and Cleveland Heights voters are deciding whether to recall Mayor Kahlil Seren amid several controversies.

The recall vote was petitioned by residents earlier this year. If the issue passes, Seren will be removed from his position once the votes have been verified, as FOX 8 previously reported. If the issue does not pass, Seren will remain in office through the end of the year.

Meanwhile, five candidates are running in the Cleveland Heights mayoral race. Voters will decide the top-two candidates to appear on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.

The I-Team learned back in June that Seren did not have enough valid signatures, making him ineligible to appear on the ballot.
