MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Two people were arrested on Monday night after a police chase ended with a crash involving a Monona Police cruiser, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

At about 11:30 p.m. Monday, a deputy attempted to pull over a Honda Accord heading west on U.S. Highway 12 at S. Stoughton Road.

Dane County officials said the stop was initiated because the license plate on the Accord belonged to a Chevrolet Cobalt. The registered driver did not have a valid license, authorities noted.

The driver allegedly sped away and a chase began.

Dane Co. officials said the chase was canceled until a person reported seeing a vehicle allegedly speeding on Dempsey Road in Madison.
