MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) -- Larry Uphoff and Vicki Angstmann of Mahomet's chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined WCIA's Mitchell Rife to talk about an upcoming event.
This Saturday, the group is building 80 beds at Lowe's. Sleep in Heavenly Peace's Mahomet chapter started a few years ago, as the group went off for training out in Utah. The organization started at a garage in Idaho and aims to help people get beds that don't have the resources to buy them for themselves.
Since its inception, the Mahomet chapter has delivered 449 beds to kids aged 3-17 all over the community. Over 500 people have volunteered since this chapter started.
Saturday will be Bunks Across America -- a national initiative for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The national goal is to have 10,000 beds for people in need, and
