SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreveport City Councilman Jim Taliaferro announced Tuesday that he will seek a second term representing District C.

Taliaferro said his campaign will focus on continuing efforts to reduce crime, boost economic development, and improve the quality of life for residents.

“When I ran for City Council, Shreveport was in trouble,” Taliaferro said in a news release. “Today, crime is down, criminals are being locked up, and over 3,000 illegally possessed firearms have been taken off the streets in three years.”

He credited local police and new city initiatives with helping to lower crime and said additional substations are planned to increase police presence in high-crime areas.
