RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) - News Channel 5 spoke with Rapides District Attorney Phillip Terrell about two Rapides Parish cases that were not given a rehearing in the Louisiana Supreme Court: those of Darrell James Robinson and Kayla Giles.

Nearly 30 years ago, Robinson shot and killed a family of four in the Poland Community in Rapides Parish: Billy Lambert, Carol Hooper, Maureen Kelley and her infant son, Nicholas.
“I can’t think of anything more horrible in terms of criminal conduct than that, in my opinion,” Terrell said.
Robinson’s legal team applied for a rehearing in the La. Supreme Court, after that court previously reinstated his death sentence and conviction in December 2024, which was dropped before being reinstated.
