LUBBOCK, Texas -- The City of Lubbock's ordinance regarding false alarms was updated at today's council meeting. Lubbock Police Chief Seth Herman said that officers respond to nearly 13,000 calls for false alarms service each year and 75 percent of them turn out to be false alarms.
These false alarms can be due to passcode issues or even power outages. Under this new ordinance, Chief Herman said you get three free false alarm call outs before you start to face fines starting at $50.
