LUBBOCK, Texas -- Tensions rose as members of the Lubbock City Council continued to debate the upcoming budget at their meeting Tuesday.

Mayor Mark McBrayer proposed an amendment that sought to slice nearly a million dollars from the budget. McBrayer said that the proposed budget does not value the city's taxpayers. "I'm thinking about the taxpayers that are struggling. I'm not thinking about myself. I'm not thinking about most of us up here. I'm thinking about taxpayers who were on limited incomes and are struggling to make ends meet. And what have we done? I don't think we've done enough," said McBrayer.
