JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Jacksonville police say NC Wildlife is investigating after a person was found dead at the North East Creek Park boat ramp.

Police, the sheriff’s office, fire and emergency services and NC Wildlife were called to the boat ramp just after noon Tuesday to check on a person.

Authorities located a male who was deceased.

Police say that because it occurred on the waterway, North Carolina Wildlife has assumed the investigation.

The boat ramp and surrounding parking lot of North East Creek Park are currently closed due to an investigation.
