NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — On Saturday night, 21-year-old DaShayla Jones took her 4-year-old son to Malibu Jack's, an indoor amusement park in North Richland Hills. What was meant to be an evening of fun ended in tragedy early Sunday morning.

Police said an altercation started inside the business right around closing time. In an update on the case, detectives discovered there was a verbal disagreement over a wristwatch between groups. As they left the business, 18-year-old Tychriston Reed assaulted an employee, unprovoked, according to police.

Then in the parking lot after midnight, police said he shot and killed Jones and shot another 23-year-old man who is recovering from his injuries.

Family members said Jones' son witnessed his mother’s death.
