Claremont School District might close one of its elementary schools and reassign students and teachers to the remaining two elementary schools in the district due to vacant positions and resignations related to the district’s ongoing financial crisis.

Bluff Valley Elementary Principal Dale Chenette emailed all staff on Monday, informing them that building administrators will recommend that the Claremont School Board close Bluff at a Wednesday special meeting.

According to Chenette, the students and teachers would be relocated from Bluff, in central Claremont, to Disnard and Maple Avenue elementary schools in north and west Claremont respectively, if the board approves the proposal to close the school.
