A Detroit man accused of raping a woman at gunpoint in a portable toilet at a Detroit park won't be charged as of now, officials said Tuesday, after investigators determined there were inconsistencies in the victim's story.
According to authorities, the alleged victim, a 34-year-old Detroit woman, was promised money by the suspect in return for sex. After the suspect didn't pay, the victim reported that she'd been raped. Police said the case remains under investigation and the suspect may yet face charges.
"The Detroit Police Department stands with all victims of criminal sexual conduct," DPD said in a statement. "… Unfortunately, there were inconsistencies with the evidence and circumstances provided by the victim."
