The fair saw its best Sunday attendance in five years this past weekend.
New entertainment, including an acrobatics show and a fishing pond, were popular.
The fair runs through Sept. 14 at the WNC Ag. Center in Fletcher.
FLETCHER – The North Carolina Mountain State Fair is up and running, much like its famous racing pigs. The first of its two weekends this month has wrapped up like a funnel cake in foil, and the second week is off to a hot start.
The fair’s signature rainbow-colored chairlift carried riders across the fairgrounds high in the air, where they could see all the fair’s other flashing, spinning, blaring attractions, from the Matterhorn, the Mantis, the Ferris wheel and the hall of mirrors to the rubber duck and bottle-toss games.
