WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — As left-handed starter Connelly Early makes his major league debut Tuesday night for the Red Sox , Boston will have one of its top lefty-mashing hitters available in an effort to get runs in support of Early against fellow southpaw Jeffrey Springs.
After leaving Sunday’s game and missing Monday’s with general soreness after slamming into the Chase Field turf on a diving catch attempt, Rob Refsnyder is back in the Red Sox’ lineup Tuesday. He’ll hit fourth and serve as the designated hitter against Springs, a one-time Red Sox lefty who made 16 relief appearances for the club in 2020.
