TUCSON, Ariz. - (KVOA) Late Tuesday afternoon, Tucson Police confirmed a murder-suicide took place Monday at a home in Midtown near Grant. Rd. and Swan Rd.

Police identified the female as 47-year-old Michelle Johnson and the male as 48-year-old Michael Duran.

Police say Duran shot Johnson and turned the gun on himself.

In the case involving this couple, Pima County Attorney Laura Conover said she and team did not want the suspect released here, having had a history of domestic violence.

In late May, Duran was in jail on aggravated assault charges stemming from an incident at home, where court documents reveal Duran strangled Johnson, waived a gun at her and asked his girlfriend if she was ready to die.
