SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - Spartanburg's minor league baseball team, the Spartanburgers, has marked many "firsts" in its inaugural season.
Tuesday night was a big night for the Hub City Spartanburgers - their very first playoff game. The team said this season has been about more than just wins on the field.
With the same energy as opening night, fans including Trish and John Fort were through the gates as soon as they opened. For many like them, this team has been one of the best things to happen to Spartanburg in years.
"When I came the first time my mouth stayed open the whole time because I couldn’t believe Spartanburg had this,” said Trish, a season ticket holder.
The Spartanburgers inaugural season is already being called "a win," not just for the team, but for the entire city.
