NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- An Oregon-based coffee shop with franchises in 24 states, including Ohio, may open a location on Royalton Road just east of York Road .

The Human Bean would occupy a 1-acre site off the south side of Ohio 82 next to Speedway.

The parcel now contains a house, which would be torn down to make room for the coffee shop.

“The property is currently zoned local business and will not need to be rezoned,” Ian Russell, North Royalton’s city planner, told cleveland.com Monday.

“The existing home is a legal non-conforming use on the property.”

On Sept. 3, the North Royalton Planning Commission approved a preliminary site plan for the coffee shop. The plan will eventually need final approval to move forward.
