CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - People across Mecklenburg County headed to the polls on Tuesday to vote in this year’s primary election.

In Myers Park, it was a quiet day at Alexander Graham Middle School.

People still showed up to cast their ballot, and they encouraged others to do the same.

“Typically, I do vote early, so it’s unusual for me to be here on Election Day, but no, I’m not surprised that it’s a little slow,” said Lynn Banks

“I’m actually new to the area, so this is, I think, maybe my second time actually voting,” said Taja Graham. “So it’s important to me to make certain that I’m out doing my civic duty.”

No long lines in Myers Park after 13,000 people in Mecklenburg County took advantage of early voting in this year’s primary election.
