MINNEAPOLIS — Tired of swiping left and right, Twin Cities singles are packing local breweries for a bold new matchmaking event: Pitch-A-Friend.

Instead of dating apps, presenters grab the microphone and give PowerPoint presentations for their single friends, taking up the concept of setting up a friend to a whole new level.

The wingmen and wing women recount fun facts and quirks, tell funny stories, and explain what their friends are looking for.

The format is picking up steam, packing bars and hosting events for all communities, including LGBTQ-focused “Queer Night” and age-specific gatherings.

Organizer Jackie Carper, who brought Pitch-A-Friend to Minneapolis from its Philadelphia roots.
