LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington County councilmembers reignited a debate over how many homes can be built on a piece of land, even though many thought the vote on the issue was already finished.
Current rules limit most detached homes, mobile homes, and tiny homes to four units per acre. But some say the way density is calculated isn’t honest, because it counts land that can’t be built on, like lakes and wetlands.
Councilwoman Beth Carrig argued that the math is misleading for the public. She said when you remove unbuildable land, the real density looks much higher than the official number.
