An elderly Long Island woman shot her neighbor in the face with a flare gun during an argument inside a gated retirement community , officials said Tuesday.

Kathleen Schuman, 76, allegedly shot her unidentified 67-year-old neighbor when an argument outside of their homes at the Belmont Vistas Senior Apartments in West Babylon on Monday evening, the development confirmed.

“We are aware of an altercation that occurred yesterday evening between two residents,” a spokesperson for Conifer LLC., the management company that oversees Belmont Vistas, said in a statement.
