An Australian family has spoken out after they revealed a school teacher gave their bullied daughter unbelievable advice to “change behaviour”.

The family, going under fake names to protect privacy, revealed to the ABC that their daughter 'Sophie', 9, was bullied at school after she would hug and thank her primary teacher folllowing a good day at school.

Sophie’s actions were seen as “babyish” by her peers, leading her to come home crying due to the bullying.

One instance occurred where a slideshow was made about Sophie circulated around a group of kids.

This led her mother, 'Jennifer', to report the incidents to the teachers, the vice principal and principal for “clear breaches” of the school’s policies and codes of conduct.
