LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The United States Secretary of Education announced test scores are down nationwide ranging from middle school to high school students.

The national assessment of education progress found 12th graders had the lowest scores in more than 20 years. Eighth grade students also saw a huge drop in science skills.

CCSD shared a statement with FOX5 in response to the “nation’s report card”:

The national scores released today are from 2024, and the declines reported are in comparison with scores from the 2019 school year - before the pandemic. Districts around the country saw steep declines in test scores during and immediately after the pandemic. CCSD is proud of the progress we are making in catching up to pre-pandemic scores on our state assessments.
