On this date in 1910, brothers Andred and Robert Westergard, serving in the 18th Infantry, wrote home from a French hospital saying they were recovering well from minor injuries and were being well cared for.

Here is the complete story as it appeared in the paper that day:

Cando, N.D., Sept. 10 — Mrs. A.K. Westergard, of Cando, recently received a letter written by her son, Andred Westergard, from a hospital in France, advising both himself and his brother being there. The Westergard brothers left last September with Company D and are now with Company B, 18th Infantry.
