GRAND CANYON, AZ (AZFamily) — The Southwest Area Incident Management Team 3 identified the man who died on Monday afternoon while working the wildfire as 70-year-old Hank Hester of Priest River, Idaho.

Officials said Hester was doing hazardous tree removal operations when he had a heart attack near the North Rim Entrance Station. A paramedic tried to revive him but was unsuccessful.

Arizona’s Family spoke with Hester’s wife by phone on Tuesday, who said her husband was a great person in every respect and loved the outdoors.

“Sadness and regardless of what the cause is, a little bit of anger, just that we have people out there in harm’s way,” said Former Wildland Firefighter Bobbie Scopa .
