The man tasked with protecting millions of children has been dismissed from his job after a scathing inquiry found he oversaw a "toxic" workplace culture and undeclared conflicts of interest.
Steve Kinmond, the NSW Children's Guardian, stepped aside in March after allegations the Office of the Children's Guardian was deemed "not a psychologically safe workplace."
He was also regularly in contact with a person seeking a working with children check, without declaring it as a conflict of interest.
The agency oversees organisations that provide services to children.
A Special Ministerial Inquiry into the Office of the Children's Guardian, published on Wednesday, received nearly 100 submissions and listened to more than 70 current and former employees of the agency.
