LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A lengthy chase involving shooting suspects ended when the fleeing driver went off road and crashed at an intersection in Monterey Park Tuesday night.

AIR7 was over the pursuit around 11 p.m. as the driver fled Los Angeles police on surface streets in the East L.A. and Boyle Heights area.

The chase then entered the downtown and Westlake areas as several police units followed.

Eventually, the driver appeared to have lost control exiting the freeway in Monterey Park and went off road before crashing on Romona Boulevard.

It is believed three people were in the suspect vehicle, and two were taken into custody after fleeing the crash. It's unclear if the third person in the car was later apprehended.
