Coffee is still hot around Augusta – whether you're a drinker or a developer.

Commercial real estate experts said recently at a Columbia County economic development summit that long drive-thru lines at both local and national-brand coffee shops are enticing entrepreneurs to pursue investments in the bedroom community west of Augusta.

"It really is. We saw it in car washes a couple of years ago. But coffee seems like it's here to stay for a while," said Jordan Collier, director of commercial development at Augusta's Meybohm Real Estate .
