The 11th annual Mississippi Book Festival, one of Jackson's most anticipated events, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13, on the Capitol grounds.
The festival, known as a "literary lawn party," is a nonprofit that began in 2015 as a cultural celebration bringing book lovers together.
Over the years, the festival has grown, and last year's 10th annual event brought in more than 8,000 attendees, according to the festival's website .
Ellen Daniels, the Mississippi Book Festival executive director, said the event is essentially a "no-brainer" given Mississippi's literary history. She said it's encouraging each year to see "the community coming together over a shared love of literature."
