CAMDEN — A proposal by Charlotte-based developers to rezone land northeast of Camden for a data center is moving forward, with Kershaw County officials expected to begin considering it later this month.

On Sept. 8, the county’s appointed planning commission unanimously approved the proposal, sending it to the council for three rounds of consideration starting Sept. 23. If approved, the proposal would rezone about 162 acres at 771 Park Road across from the county landfill from residential to a district allowing retail, agriculture and light industrial uses.
