LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police said a child was found in a pool near Iroquois Park on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, LMPD officers responded to a report of a missing 6-year-old in the 2300 block of Pikes Peak Blvd, near Iroquois Park. Officers immediately launched a search of the area, assisted by the department’s Air Unit.

During the search, authorities received information indicating the child may have had diminished capacity and possibly was autistic.

This led officers to focus on nearby water hazards, including residential pools.

Tragically, the child was found in a pool around 8:50 p.m. Officers began CPR and continued life-saving efforts until EMS arrived. The child was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased
