CROWN POINT — The City of Crown Point on Monday began tightly enforcing parking in and around the downtown square area, with businesses and patrons giving mixed feedback.
The city has debuted new technology to enforce two-hour parking violations on the square and two of its municipal downtown parking lots. The restrictions are in place beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Parking is limited to two hours all around the square, the city court parking lot and the Crown Point Community Library. Parking at City Hall has just a 15-minute time limit.
The time limit is not new — though it was not enforced for about a year, the ordinance will now be more strictly enforced than ever before.
