ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Southern Tier AIDS Program (STAP) says this year’s AIDS Ride for Life raised more than $130,000.

The 27th annual ride took place Saturday, September 6, beginning at Stewart Park in Ithaca. More than 150 cyclists from across the country participated, choosing routes ranging from 14 to 100 miles around Cayuga Lake.

Despite rain and chilly weather, organizers say riders showed determination throughout the event. “You could sense the pride, the joy, and the determination of our riders at every mile,” said Kayla Thomas, events coordinator for STAP.

The fundraiser benefits STAP’s programs and services, including HIV/AIDS support across the Southern Tier.
