Some people are natural risk-takers while others, understandably, prefer to avoid uncertainty . But those who don't take many risks might be missing out on some crucial opportunities to grow and expand their minds.

"It's all about getting out of your comfort zone," psychotherapist and TODAY.com columnist Niro Feliciano said during a segment on the TODAY show in August.

"We might be creatures of habit; it’s comfortable," she said. "But we don’t grow when we’re in those situations."

If you're someone who doesn't typically take risks, she recommend reframing your worst-case scenario to a best-case scenario. "What would happen if this worked out? How can this change my life?" she said.

And there's another reframing trick she recommends, which will help you focus on your true intuition
