MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa —
The Marshalltown Police and Community Team has successfully responded to mental health crises by connecting individuals to community social services this year, according to an update they gave at a Marshalltown City Council meeting.
From January to August, MPACT responded to 151 calls and served 336 people, with homelessness, mental health, and family disputes making up 68% of the calls. 98% percent of people accepted help from MPACT Community Advocates, allowing officers to return to service 100% of the time while Community Advocates assisted at the site of the calls.
