JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - The city of Jackson will begin its fall hydrant flushing program in the coming weeks.

This routine maintenance helps refresh the city’s water system by removing iron and sediment from water mains.

The flushing is set to take place from September 22 to October 7 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During this time, residents may notice discolored water or low water pressure.

While the water remains safe to drink, the city advises residents to avoid doing laundry during flushing periods to prevent staining.
