WASHINGTON, D. C. - U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes on Tuesday said Republicans are targeting her district as part of a national push to redraw congressional maps across multiple states, describing the effort as “cheating” during a Congressional Black Caucus press conference.

Sykes said Republicans are “attempting to steal congressional districts” without earning people’s votes.

“They are cheaters,” the Akron Democrat said of Ohio Republicans who control the state’s redistricting process and are likely to try to draw maps that they hope will give them an advantage in 12 or 13 of the state’s 15 congressional districts.
