WASHINGTON — As the 30-day local emergency expires Wednesday night, President Donald Trump claims D.C. is now crime free. Police data paints a different picture.

To celebrate the success the president claims the crime crackdown has had, he took Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth out to dinner at Joe's Seafood Tuesday night.

“We're standing right in the middle of D.C., which, as you know about, over the last year, was a very unsafe place. Over the last 20 years actually. It was very unsafe. And now it's got virtually no crime. We call it crimefree," Trump told reporters outside of the restaurant.
