The NATO military alliance will investigate the incident of Russian drones flying over Poland Secretary-General Mark Rutte said on Wednesday.
An “assessment is ongoing”, Rutte said, though he did not specify whether the incident was intentional or not.
“Whether it was intentional or not, it was reckless and dangerous,” he added.
The statement by Rutte gave a message of both calmness and readiness, two key pillars of NATO’s strategy in public responses to potential threats to the alliance.
NATO ambassadors this morning “denounced Russia’s reckless behaviour.” he said. Envoys “discussed the situation” and “expressed solidarity”, he added.
