LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After more than a decade, the Best of the West rivalry is back.
The Academy @ Shawnee and Central High School have been celebrating West Louisville all week. On Tuesday, students spent time giving back to the community.
Football players from both West Louisville schools walked side-by-side through the neighborhood around Shawnee picking up trash and proving the rivalry stands for more than just a game.
"Family and friends coming together, picking up the community, bringing the community together as a group," said Shawnee Quarterback Melvin Mitchell. "We've been working hard, paying attention, listening more of studying more on the plays. West End is got the best athletes in the state of Kentucky."
