CHARLOTTE, N.C. — President Donald Trump is calling for the death penalty for the man accused of fatally stabbing a woman on the LYNX Blue Line in South End last month.

Decarlos Brown is accused of stabbing and killing Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.

Brown has been charged with first-degree murder in her death, and on Tuesday received a federal indictment. If convicted, Brown could face one of two maximum penalties: life in prison or death.

On the tails of that indictment, Trump posted on Truth Social advocating for a quick trial with a death sentence.
