COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities said a Midlands man was recently arrested on sex crimes involving a child.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said 63-year-old Robert S. Singleton, Jr., was arrested Aug. 27 and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 years old as well as a count of incest.

The sheriff’s office said Singleton’s arrest came after it received a report alleging Singleton forced the victim to engage in sexual activity.

Deputies said Singleton was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and remains there as of Wednesday after being denied bond.
