Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week for Colorado Springs and the rest of the region as the morning's clear skies turn mostly cloudy and stormy in the afternoon, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

Storms across the Pikes Peak Region will be mostly scattered outside of the mountains. There's still a chance for stronger wind gusts and small hail on the eastern plains headed into the evening, KOAA Meteorologist Alan Rose said.

Temperatures will be above normal, topping out to around 84 degrees for Colorado Springs, according to the National Weather Service.
