LOS BANOS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A ribbon-cutting was held on Tuesday for a new animal shelter in Los Banos.

The project is several years in the making.

The new facility will provide additional resources for the city's residents, housing both dogs and cats.

The new shelter doubles the size of the previous space with a new surgical center and cat room.

The building also provides offices and amenities for animal service officers.

The new facility is located on Airport Road and will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm.
