SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -

Inflation is top of mind for the average American, yet experts say we are spending cash in record amounts.

It seems credit cards have been the band aid to make ends meet these days.

In fact, Americans have racked up a record $1.2 trillion in credit card debt.

That’s according to the latest numbers out of the Federal Reserve.

“There’s going to be a credit card, a credit bubble, and pretty soon that is going to burst,” said Chip Lupo, an analyst and writer for WalletHub. “Now, what that magic number is, no one knows yet.”
