BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Completion of the I-10 widening project in Baton Rouge will now be slated for 2031.

When the major road project is finished, drivers will have four travel lanes in each direction from the I-10/I-110 split to the Perkins on and off ramps. The years-long construction project started in 2023.

Timeline for Segment 1 as of September 2025: • 2023-25: Permanent construction of the first phase of City Park Lake Bridge (westbound lanes). • 2025-28: Widen westbound flyover curve towards Mississippi River Bridge. Crossover at Terrace Street. Temporary widening of westbound I-10 mainline bridge. • 2028-30: Demo and rebuild I-10 eastbound, including the second phase of the City Park Lake Bridge (eastbound lanes). • 2030-31: Demo and rebuild westbound I-10
