Losing strands? It may not seem like a major medical crisis. But for many, seeing it coming out in fistfuls is more than just physical; it’s a draining mental toll. Studies show that Black Americans are one of the highest groups to lose their hair to numerous forms of alopecia, including traction, areata and Central Centrifugal Cicatricial. And it’s even more disarming for Black women, who are bombarded by beauty standards rewarding long, European textures and styles. But more and more Black women are rocking their bald heads with pride, proving that your locks never define you.
