A New Jersey man wanted for a homicide in Camden County was arrested while entering the U.S. from Canada, officials said Tuesday.
Everton Thomas, 41, was on a commercial bus at the Rainbow Bridge crossing on Monday when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Buffalo discovered a National Crime Information Center match showing he had an active warrant for his arrest.
At a secondary inspection area, CBP agents verified Thomas’ identity and confirmed that he had an active warrant for his arrest from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office for homicide with a gun.
Thomas was turned over to the New York State Police as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey — where he will now “face the justice system,” Buffalo Assistant Port Director Richard Diamond said.
